摘要
迈克尔·坎宁安的《时时刻刻》是一部后现代主义实验小说,其实验性特征主要体现为灵活地运用了多种蒙太奇手法。小说以平行蒙太奇的手法交替呈现不同时空语境下的三位女性人物的故事情节,以重复蒙太奇的手法再现不同故事中的相似场景、强调不同女性故事中的共同意象,以心理蒙太奇的手法描写三位女性人物隐幽的内心意识,刻画其性格特征,以隐喻蒙太奇的手法深化女性人物故事中的象征色彩和隐喻意义。蒙太奇手法的灵活运用,彰显了小说的叙事创新,为坎宁安小说的叙事研究提供了新的阐释角度,也为后现代叙事艺术的研究提供了内涵丰富的参考文本。
Written by Michael Cunningham a contemporary American writer,The Hours is a postmodernist novel with the features of experimentation,one of which is mainly reflected in the flexible application of various montage methods.More specifically,Cunningham uses"parallel montage"method to alternately present and unfold three narrative strands of female stories in different times and spaces,and employs"repetitive montage"method to depict the similar scenes in three different narratives,thus highlighting the common motifs in them;still,the novel utilizes"psychological montage"method to delineate three female characters'inner consciousness and characterize their personalities,and applies"metaphorical montage"method to deliver and foreground the symbolic connotations and metaphorical significance of three female stories.The flexible use of various montage methods demonstrates the narrative innovation in Cunningham's writing,providing a new perspective for the narratological study of his novel and a reference text with rich connotations for the study of postmodern narrative art.
