Inflammation is the defensive reaction of the body to the injury factors, which is one of the common pathological reactions in human daily life.Acupuncture is widely used in the treatment of a variety of inflammatory diseases, and its anti-inflammatory effect is widely accepted by the international community, but the specific mechanism is not completely clear. The occurrence of various inflammatory diseases is inseparable from immune cell polarization, and T cells and monocytes/macrophages are particularly important in the inflammatory process.Experimental studies have found that acupuncture can regulate autonomic nerve, promote the release of central neurotransmitter, and affect the epigenetic modification of immune cells, which can regulate the polarization direction of immune cells. In addition, acupuncture can regulate the neuroendocrine axis and promote the release of hormones, which have been shown to be closely related to the polarization of immune cells. This study reviewed the effects of acupuncture on autonomic nerve, neurotransmitter, neuroendocrine axis and epigenetics. The new neuroimmunological regulation mechanism of acupuncture in anti-inflammation is proposed in the study so as to provide clinical basis.
