本文缘起于《红楼梦大辞典》中一个关于"服饰"的条目:"莲青斗纹锦上添花洋线番羓丝的鹤氅"。这个条目诠释的难点是"番羓丝"。笔者是《红楼梦大辞典》"服饰"部分的撰写者。该辞典于1990年出版后不久,笔者有了新的资料发现。借着三十年后辞典修订之机,对条目重新做了改写。改写的意义在于,一个条目的准确释义,不仅可以帮助读者获得更多的相关知识,还可以对各种改编作品的误读予以匡正。

This article is triggered by an entry about clothes in the Grant Dictionary of A Dream of Red Mansions,which says:“a pale blue mauve cloak silk-wool woven in various designs with spiral lines”.The difficult point of the entry lies in the explanation of the kind of wool.The author of this article was the compiler of the clothes section for the Grant Dictionary of A Dream of Red Mansions,which was published in 1990.Shortly after the publication,the author made a new discovery on clothes,and modified the entries when the dictionary was revised 30 years later.The modification is important in that the accurate definition of an entry helps reader acquire more relevant knowledge and correct the misuse of them in various adapted art forms.
