On“Invisible Man”from the Perspective of New Historicism

该文从新历史主义视角出发,以“文本的历史性”和“历史的文本性”为导向,剖析了小说《看不见的人》中文本和历史的相关性。通过分析小说对边缘化人物的描写、小说叙述的零碎历史片段,对历史事件进行重建,从再现文本历史和重建历史文本两个方面揭示了文本与历史之间的互动关系。《看不见的人》完成了对历史的审视与重建,展现了作者对改善种族歧视现状的期待以及对重建黑人个人意志和文化自信的呼唤。

From the perspective of new historicism,this paper analyzes the relevance of text and history in“Invisible Man”under the guidance of“historicity of text”and“textuality of history”.By analyzing the description of marginalized characters in the novel and the historical fragments narrated in the novel that reflect and reconstruct the overall historical event,the interactive relationship between text and history is revealed from the two aspects of reproducing the textual history and reconstructing the historical text.As a text that reflects and reproduces history,“Invisible Man”achieves the purpose of examining and reconstructing history,showing the author’s desire to eliminate racial discrimination and call for the reconstruction of black people’s personal will and cultural self-confidence.
