Tooth root development is a complex process, which is jointly controlled by epithelium and mesenchyme and involves the interaction of multiple molecules. The study found that nuclear transcription factor I-C(NFIC)is one of the main molecules that regulate tooth root development.NFIC is involved in the formation of root dentin and root growth through interaction with various molecules including transforming growth factorβ(TGFβ),Krüppel-like factor 4(KLF4),osterix(OSX),hedgehog(HH),AFF4,and trace element zinc. This article will review the role of NFIC in tooth root formation and the molecules related to NFIC.
