汉英不平衡双语者翻译方向不对称性研究--来自英汉双语句子翻译任务的证据

A Study on the Translation Asymmetry of Different Chinese-English Bilinguals

以修正层级模型为理论框架,通过对比705名中国大学生完成英汉双语句子翻译任务的表现,着重探讨汉英不平衡双语者的翻译方向不对称性现象。实验发现,二语水平与双语翻译任务的表现显著相关,高中低三组被试的二语水平与句子翻译的得分有显著组间差异,且呈正相关。同时,高中低三组被试在英汉互译任务中的成绩呈现出动态发展变化,即高分组的英译汉成绩显著高于汉译英成绩;低分组刚好相反,汉译英成绩显著高于英译汉成绩;中间组居中,两项翻译分数没有显著差异。这一结果体现了双语者由低水平的词汇关联模式向高水平的概念中介模式发展的趋势,表明二语的词汇层面与概念层的联接可以随着二语水平的提高而加强。

Based on the theoretical framework of Revised Hierarchical Model(RHM),this paper focuses on the translation asymmetry of different Chinese-English bilinguals by comparing the performance of 705 Chinese EFL learners in completing Chinese-English and English-Chinese sentence translation task.It is found that the bilingual level was significantly correlated with the performance of bilingual translation task,and there is a significant difference between bilingual level and sentence translation score among the three groups,and there is a positive correlation between levels and scores.What’s more,the results of the three groups of high,middle and low scores in the task of English-Chinese bidirectional translation showed dynamic changes,that is,the score of putting English into Chinese is significantly higher than that of putting Chinese into English in high grade group;and vice versa in low grade group,the score of putting Chinese into English is clearly higher than that of putting English into Chinese;the result of middle grade group is in the middle,there is no significant difference between the bidirectional translation scores.The results reflects the trend of bilinguals developing from the low level of lexical association to the high level of conceptual mediation,which indicates that the connection between lexical level and conceptual level could be strengthened with the improvement of bilingualism.
