Promoting a New Eco⁃system for Foreign Language Education

外语教育教学是一个复杂的生态系统。不同的机构和人员在这个生态系统中发挥着重要的作用。政府是教育政策的制定者,也是教育资源的主要提供者。社会机构,包括教学研究机构、出版机构、考试机构等提供相关的教育教学服务。学校是这个系统中最重要的分支系统。其中,校长、学科负责人和学科教师对外语教育的认识、教学和管理能力以及他们与学生和家长的互动决定了学校的外语教育质量。学生无疑是该生态系统中最重要的起点和终端,其自身又构成一个微系统,包括他们的学习能力、学习动机、学习投入及其与同伴、老师和其他环境因素的互动等,这些因素将决定外语学习的最终成效,并对整个生态系统的变化和未来运作产生重要影响。

Foreign language education is an eco⁃system which consists of a number of subsystems involving people and agencies or institutions.Government agencies play an important part in the eco⁃system by making policy decisions,allocating resources and making evaluations,etc.Social institutions,such as research institutes,publishers,testing services,etc.,provide important services and resources vital to the workings of the whole system.Schools are pivotal in the system in that they shape the quality of foreign language education by linking government policies,social institutions and classroom teaching with teachers,students and their parents.In the school,the vision,devotion,teaching and management skills of the principals,head teachers and foreign language teachers are critical in helping students achieve their goals.The most important part of the system is students.Their aptitudes,motivations and investment and their interactions with the teachers,peers and other environmental factors determine the ultimate outcome of the whole eco⁃system and thus affect the future functioning of the system.
