Quasicrystalline Phase with Eighteen-Fold Diffraction Symmetry in Molecular Dynamics Simulations

摘要 Using molecular dynamics simulations,we investigate two-dimensional systems,which are composed of one type of particle,with mutual interactions of Lennard-Jones-Gauss potentials.Under certain conditions,the model system tends to organize itself into quasiperiodic lattices with a certain rotational symmetry.Diffraction patterns with eighteen-fold symmetry are observed.
