辽朝佛教渊源及其成分复杂。从总体上看,辽朝佛教主要是继承唐五代和渤海佛教,其中又以唐五代为主。这一点从辽朝寺庙、佛教经典、造像以及某些佛教学说的流行上不难看出。而渤海国崇尚佛教,灭亡后又被纳入辽朝版图。毫无疑问,渤海佛教也是辽朝佛教的重要来源之一。另外,种种迹象表明,回鹘佛教也是辽朝佛教的重要来源和组成部分,而来自天竺摩揭陀国的佛教也可被视为是圣宗朝以后辽朝佛教的渊源之一。

The origin and composition of Buddhism in Liao Dynasty are complex.On the whole,Buddhism in Liao Dynasty is mainly inherited from Buddhism in Tang and Five Dynasties and Bohai Sea,especially in Tang and Five Dynasties.This can be seen from the popularity of temples,Buddhist classics,statues and some Buddhist theories in Liao Dynasty.The Bohai State advocated Buddhism and was incorporated into the territory of Liao Dynasty after its demise.There is no doubt that Bohai Buddhism is also one of the important sources of Buddhism in Liao Dynasty.In addition,all kinds of signs show that Uighur Buddhism is also an important source and component of Buddhism in the Liao Dynasty,and Buddhism from the central Indian state of mogatuo can also be regarded as one of the sources of Buddhism in the Liao Dynasty after the Shengzong Dynasty.
