Textual Research on Xiong Xiang’s Life Story and His Compilation of Local Chronicles

熊相是明代著名的方志学家,其编纂的正德《瑞州府志》、正德《四川志》、嘉靖《蓟州志》等三志体例完备、内容丰富、史料翔实,对于研究明代政治、经济、文化具有重要作用,尤其是对瑞州府、四川省、蓟州三地的地方史研究提供了可靠资料。熊相在纂修方志中,提出修志的功用在于"有裨于世教",遵循实事求是的直笔精神,坚持方志体例的继承与创新,这对当代纂修地方志具有很强的借鉴意义。

Xiong Xiang was a famous chronicler in the Ming Dynasty. Being complete in styles,rich in content and full and accurate in historical materials,Ruizhou Prefecture Annales of Zhengde Period,Sichuan Annals of Zhengde Period and Jizhou Prefecture Annales of Jiajing Period compiled by him greatly facilitate the study of politics,economy and culture of Ming Dynasty,and provide reliable and valuable materials especially for the study of local history of Ruizhou,Sichuan and Jizhou. As a chronicler,Xiong Xiang argued that compilation of local chroniclesserves to " benefit social moralization. " He adopted? a practical attitude with an emphasis on the inheritance and innovation of style. This is of great reference value for the compilation of local chronicles nowadays.
