In his works,Jean Ray,the famous Belgian fantasy writer,focused on constructing a supernatural world alongside the real world.In the fantasy novel Le grand nocturne,for example,he constructed two worlds,a natural one and a supernatural one,following strict logic.This article analyzes the construction of the supernatural world in the novel through a three-step process:the clues of the supernatural world,the approach to the supernatural world and the victory of the supernatural world.Thus,it proposes an inquiry into the legitimacy of the existence of the supernatural world,the logic and train of thought of Jean Ray as well as the inner tension of fantastic literature.
