特奥多尔·冯塔纳的《艾菲·布里斯特》是欧洲著名的女性悲剧小说,它展示了普鲁士女性的羸弱和无助,讲述了她们最终成为社会规范和荣誉崇拜的牺牲品的命运。小说出色的叙事结构和现实主义内容使其成为20世纪以来德国电影导演最钟爱的脚本之一,至今已有五部电影问世。最近的一部于2009年出自于德国女导演洪德格布特之手,此作大胆地颠覆了冯塔纳的原著,影片中艾菲离婚后并未在精神和疾病的折磨下忧郁而死,而是成为一名独立工作的图书管理员,自信地开启了崭新的生活。时代语境的变化、女性地位的提高使得对小说进行简单的“翻译”已不合时宜,导演把这部电影理解为一种“妇女解放”,对小说进行了现代性诠释。

Effi Briest is a famous European female tragedy written by Theodor Fontane.It depicts the weakness and helplessness of Prussian women,whose fate ends up as the victims of social norms and worshipping honor.The outstanding narrative structure and realistic content have made it become one of the most beloved scripts for German film directors since the 20th century and there have been five films about it so far.The latest one was directed by German female director Hermine Huntgeburth in 2009,and the director boldly overturned the original work.In the film,Effi did not die melancholy due to the torture of mind and illness after divorce,but started a new life as an independent librarian with confidence.Changes in the context of the times and improvement of female’s social status made it beyond simply“translating”the novel.Huntgeburth defined the film as a kind of“women’s liberation”and gave a modern interpretation of the novel.
