涪陵语言景观英译现状调查及优化策略研究

Present Situation of English Translation of Linguistic Landscape in Fuling and the Optimized Strategies

语言景观是城市形象的重要维度。通过采取统计、分析、对比等多元研究方法对涪陵语言景观英译现状进行调查,发现涪陵语言景观英译存在大量以拼音代替英译,译语字母漏写、错写、大小写错误等书写错误,漏译、多译、误译、译语缺失等翻译错误,译语繁杂、言不达意、语用失误等翻译表达问题,政府和社会各界应对此高度重视。建议在政策规范、建设规划、监督管理和英译水平等方面着力加强改进和进一步系统完善,以期优化涪陵语言景观,改善城市文化环境,助力“文明城市”创建和对外开放进程。

Linguistic landscape is an important dimension of the image of a city.An investigation of the present English trans⁃lation of linguistic landscape in Fuling through multiple methods such as statistics,analysis,and contrast shows that the English translation of the linguistic landscape in the city has a lot of problems,which can be categorized into three types:1.mistakes in spelling like the substitution of Pinyin for English,missing of letters,misspelling,and case errors;2.the mistakes in terms of amount like missing translation,redundant translation,erroneous translation,or absent translation;3.the expression problems in translation like complicated translation,unfaithful translation,and pragmatically erroneus translation.These problems should be paid attention to by the government.The writer of the article suggests that the linguistic landscape in Fuling can be optimized from four apsects:policy norm,construction planning,supervision and management,and translation proficiency so as to improve the cultural environment of the city and promote the construction of“civilized city”and the process of opening up.
