新疆是古丝绸之路的中枢地带,也是东西方各民族、文化、宗教的汇聚之地。田联韬先生与后辈学人扎根田野,从"音乐本体"切入,运用多学科视角展开丝绸之路新疆段多民族音乐文化研究,形成了以绿洲丝绸之路、草原丝绸之路为通道,以阿尔泰语系突厥语族、蒙古语族音乐文化为主要研究对象的学术研究领域,并呈现出历时与共时、定点与多点、宏观与微观、区域与跨区域、跨族群与跨文化相结合的丝绸之路多民族音乐文化研究态势。

Xinjiang is a central area of the ancient Silk Road and it is also a collecting place of culture and regions of various nationalities from both West and East.Mr Tian Liantao and subsequent scholars are rooted in the fieldwork and carried out multi-disciplinary research on multi-ethnic musical culture along the Xinjiang section of the Silk Road from"the entity of music".As a result,a series of academic regions with different research subjects are established,such as the musical culture expressed by Turki and Mongolian people of the Altaic language family along the oasis silk road and grass land silk road.Research trends of multi-ethnic music culture along the Silk Road are seen in terms of synchronic and diachronic,fixed and multiple sites,micro and macro,regional and trans-regional,and inter-ethnic and inter-cultural aspects.
