Du Fu’s poem“On the Height”,written in the fall of the second year of Tang Dali(767 A.D.),is a true portrayal of his desolate and lonely life in his later years,but the poem is full of passions.This passionate momentum is not only derived from Du Fu’s inheritance of the“Climbing”literary tradition,but also manifests the expression of his high life consciousness when he faced the feeling of passing away in his later years.In addition to the sentimentality,the poem also contains the magnificent feelings and optimistic spirits of Du Fu in his later years,which is closely related to the relatively stable life in Kuizhou and is an important manifestation of his Confucianism.
