语料库视域下英汉动物认知转喻阐释与比较

Metonymic Interpretation and Comparison of Animals in Chinese and English:A Perspective of Corpora

本文基于认知转喻理论,对英汉语中的动物转喻进行了分类讨论。研究发现英汉语中共存在六种动物转喻,即“以属性代动物名”“以用途代动物名”“以动物代肉类食品”“以动物代皮质产品”“以动物代属性”以及“以动物代相关动作”。系统考察英汉语中动物转喻类别,有利于人们了解动物命名理据,以期帮助人们更好地认知动物范畴及其相关事物。

Based on the theory of cognitive metonymy,this paper categorizes and analyzes the animal metonymies in English and Chinese.The study shows that there are six kinds of animal metonymy in English and Chinese:referring the characteristic of animals to their name;referring the role of animals to their name;referring animals to their flesh;referring animals to their skin;referring animals to their characteristic;and referring animals to their related behavior.Systematic exploration of the categories of animal metonymy in English and Chinese can contribute to people's knowledge of the motivation behind animal's name,thereby helping people better conceptualize the animal category and its related things.
