V. V. Barthold, a famous Russian orientalist, first placed the study of Central Asian historical geography on a scientific track by adopting critical research methods, and became the founder of Central Asian historical geography.With the aim of solving practical problems, oriented to such problems as archaeology, the flow direction of the Amu Darya River, manual irrigation and regime change, he constructed his perspective of the historical geography of the Central Asian region. V. V. Barthold has made outstanding contributions to the study of Central Asian regional historical geography, and initiated the pioneer study on Central Asian regional historical geography. V. V.
