The Impact of the Depth of Regional Trade Agreement on the Embedded Mode of Global Value Chain

文章从全球价值链嵌入方向、复杂程度的双重嵌入视角出发建立回归模型,研究了区域贸易协定(RTA)深度对全球价值链嵌入模式的影响。研究结果表明:区域贸易协定深度通过成本机制显著提升了两国的价值链嵌入度水平,但在嵌入模式上,后向价值链嵌入度提升快于前向价值链嵌入度,简单价值链嵌入提升高于复杂价值链嵌入;"WTO+"对价值链嵌入的提升作用高于"WTO-X",但"WTO-X"的边界内条款对价值链嵌入方向影响更为均衡,有利于价值链升级;签署国经济发展水平决定了RTA深度影响其全球价值链嵌入的程度和路径。在推进国内国际经济双循环的背景下,我国通过签署RTA与价值链上游国家深度合作,提升边界开放水平的同时,注重以"WTO-X"为代表的边界内政策协调,是有效提升本国全球价值链嵌入度和地位的关键。

This paper constructs a regression model from the perspective of the embedded direction and complexity of global value chain(GVC),and investigates the impact of the depth of regional trade agreement(RTA)on the embedded mode of GVC.The research results show that the depth of RTA significantly promotes the embedded levels of the two countries through the cost mechanism,but in terms of the embedded mode,the embedded degree of the backward value chain increases faster than that of the forward value chain,and the embedded degree of the simple value chain increases faster than that of the complex value chain;"WTO+"has a greater promotion effect on the value chain embedding than"WTO-X",but the boundary clauses of"WTO-X"exert a more balanced impact on the embedded direction of value chain,which is conducive to the value chain upgrading;the economic development level of the signatory countries determines the degree and path of RTA depth’s impact on their GVC embedding.In the context of advancing the domestic and international economic dual circulation,it is important for China to sign RTA to deepen the cooperation with the upstream countries in the value chain and promote the boundary opening level while attaching importance to the policy coordination within the boundary represented by"WTO-X",which is the key to effectively enhancing its GVC embedded degree and position.
