摘要
在课外,西南联合大学教师通过聊天、散步、郊游、借书、请客、指导学生社团等方式,构建起和谐融洽的师生关系。西南联合大学师生课外交往频繁和密切,一是因为骤然紧缩的生活空间为师生朝夕相处创造了绝佳条件;二是因为本科教育的中心地位让本科生享受了研究生的待遇;三是因为学生乐意、渴慕与教师亲近;四是因为教师是纯粹的教师,将教书育人视为第一职责。西南联合大学和谐融洽的师生关系启示我们,教育本质上是教师与学生之间生动的交往,是“面对面”心灵交流的艺术,因此,线上教学取代不了线下教学,课堂教学取代不了课外教学。当今大学,师生相处的紧密空间不复存在,教师闲暇不足而焦虑有余,导致师生课外交往缺失,由此造成疏远、冷淡和缺乏教育性的师生关系。
Nowadays,teacher-student relationships in the university have become increasingly distant and impersonal.However,around 70 years ago,in Xinan Lianda,or National Southwest Associated University,many teachers did managed to build rapport with their students via esp.frequent off-classroom interaction,such as chatting,dining,hiking and picnicking together.Why was off-classroom mentoring so popular in Lianda then?That was partly because a close-knit academic community had been built during tough times of the anti-Japanese war(1937-1945),partly also because university teachers then regarded talent-cultivation(rather than scientific research)their top priority and were very willing to spend time mentoring those undergraduate students.In fact,the essence of education lies in the spiritual connection between teachers and students,established through face-to-face interaction or soul-to-soul communication.Therefore,online education will never replace traditional education,and off-classroom mentoring can be considered just as important as classroom instruction.
