Examples of Bohai Burial Customs

墓地设置祭台、以多人二次葬为主的复杂多样的葬式、焚坑火葬及尸骨葬并存、以马牙为主的象征性殉牲以及使用釉陶明器等,是通过考古发现揭示的渤海葬俗的几个方面。这些渤海葬俗,或植根于靺鞨民族传统,或深受中原唐王朝影响,或与渤海建国之前的东北民族有所关联,体现了复杂的文化因素。

Setting alters in cemeteries,commingled secondary burials,co-existence of traditional burial and cremation practices,symbolic animal sacrifice(mainly using horse teeth)--these are the Bohai burial customs reflected by archaeological findings.They are either rooted in the tradition of Mohe people,or deeply influenced by the Tang Dynasty of the Central Plains,or somewhat connected with the northeastern ethnic groups before the founding of Bohai Kingdom,which shows complicated cultural factors.
