This paper analyzes and interprets the sentence“Parts of non-metallic material supporting connections and parts of non-metallic material within a distance of 3 mm of such connections”in GB4706.1.Based on IEC60335-1:2020 standard and two specific cases,the following questions are emphatically discussed:“How to judge the nonmetallic material?”“Under what circumstances do both tests(the glow-wire test of GB/T5169.11 and a glow-wire flammability index according to GB/T5169.12)have to be done?”“How to do the glow-wire test,when there are many kinds of insulating materials in the within a distance of 3 mm?”
