The development of colorimetric determination of total sulfhydryl group(Ellman method)in recent 30 years was reviewed.The reaction principle and kinetic properties of Ellman method were briefly summarized,and the applications in the determination of sulfhydryl activity,cholinesterase activity and SERS probe were summarized.The application status and development trend of this analysis method are understood and grasped,which provides a feasible new idea for related research.
