As a sea channel for trade and cultural exchanges between ancient China and foreign countries, the Maritime Silk Road started in the Qin and Han dynasties and thrived in the Tang and Song dynasties.Tang poems recorded that such countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road as Funan,Zhenla,Heling,Simhala, etc.,had coastlines on the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean, and they were important areas that the Maritime Silk Road passed through. The Tang Dynasty maintained a good relationship with these countries and regions. The relevant descriptions and records in Tang poems showed that the Maritime Silk Road was not a newly coined word simply to correspond to the Silk Road on the Land, yet it referred to the actual east-west sea route since the Han and Tang dynasties, exerting a huge effect on the Southeast Asian and the East Asian countries, especially on Silla and Japan.
