Political awareness has been the distinctive characteristic and the fine tradition of the Chinese People′s Liberation Army. Under the conditions of the new era, based on the special and complex situation and prominent problems at home and abroad, inside and outside the military, President Xi Jinping has made innovations and developments with distinctive characteristics of the times on the basis of inheriting the main contents and major principles of traditional political army building, in such respects as ideological guidance, thematic tasks, leadership system, actual combat standards, correcting style and malpractice, and political work mechanism.
