Public Will and Private Opinion:An Analysis of the Relationship Between Li Zhun and Cen Chunxuan in the Late Qing Dynasty

李准是清末广东政治与军事格局中的重要人物,其官场俯仰沉浮与两广总督岑春煊有着密切的关系。李准与岑春煊之间的关系历经利益合作、求同存异以及彻底决裂等阶段,反映了清末地方政治生态中“人”的因素的重要性:立场与政见的不同影响人际关系,而人际关系又影响地方政治与军事的发展进程乃至国家政权的稳固。

Li Zhun was an important figure in the political and military structure of Guangdong in the late Qing Dynasty.The rise and fall of his officialdom was closely related to Cen Chunxuan,governor of Guangdong and Guangdong.The relationship between Li Zhun and Cen Chunxuan went through the stages of interest cooperation,seeking common ground while reserving differences and complete break,which reflected the importance of the“human”factor in the local political ecology in the late Qing Dynasty:the differences of positions and political opinions affected the interpersonal relationship,which affected the development process of local politics and military and even the stability of national power.
