摘要
在数字经济时代,中国企业面临着如何重塑国际市场新优势的历史机遇和重大挑战。随着数字平台快速发展,越来越多的中国企业寻求通过跨境数字平台开展国际业务活动。但是,跨境数字平台并不必然提升中国企业的国际竞争优势,数字平台参与影响企业国际竞争优势的路径和机制尚未清晰。针对这一理论缺口,本文基于组织学习视角和企业实践,创新性地提出"跨境数字平台参与—国际化增值行为—企业国际竞争优势"理论模型,深入分析产品创新和品牌升级两大国际化增值行为的关键中介作用、以及跨境数字平台特征和能力的调节效应,据此揭示企业参与跨境数字平台影响其国际竞争优势的传导路径和内在机制,拓展数字经济时代企业国际化理论,为中国企业有效利用数字技术实现国际化成长提供依据。
Rapid changing global marketplace owing to the ubiquitous availability of digital technologies has significantly disrupted the competitive landscape.Arguably,this trend generates severe challenges but brings a wide range of novel opportunities for Chinese firms in pursuit of superior international performance.In recent years,a growing number of Chinese firms conducting their business across the globe using cross-border digital platforms.Notwithstanding,whereas competitive advantage in international markets does not automatically follow the application of technology developments,academic research has not yet offered explicit examination of how and when digital platform participation could influence firm's international performance.In response,drawing on the organizational learning perspective and lessons learned from business practices,the proposed model argues that product innovation and brand upgrading,as two types of international value-added activities,could mediate the impact of cross-border digital platform participation on Chinese firm's competitive advantage in international markets.It further identifies several boundary conditions with respect to digital platformzs characteristics and capabilities.This model provides insights into how firms can build competitive advantage in international markets through cross-border digital platform participation,therefore contributing to theories on firm's internationalization in the era of digital economy.The model and related arguments also have implications for Chinese firms effectively harnessing digital platforms for cross-border activities.
