The U.S.trade deficits with other countries began increasing after the mid-1970s.Before the 1970s,the US largely maintained its trade balance.After the 1970s,however,a trade surplus in services significantly increased,while a trade deficit in goods began to expand.This imbalance has become a key concern in American political and economic circles.US President Donald Trump maintains the view that the expanding U.S.trade deficit results from unfair international trade rules that puts U.S.interests at a disservice.
