“新彩”何时传到中国,目前尚无定论和确切的考证。但根据有关资料及对画风的研究,“洋彩”瓷至少在清末至民国初期便已在中国出现,当时主要产区是景德镇和唐山。景德镇是较早使用新彩颜料在陶瓷上作画的地区,这是因为景德镇是最早将国画入瓷的产瓷区,而新彩的颜色丰富,基本和国画颜料一样齐全,所以得到景德镇产瓷区艺术家们的青睐。新彩更能表现“绘画性”所谓“绘画性”本文指的是国画绘画性和油画绘画性,像青花也可以描绘国画,可变现其韵味,但不能表现其色泽。而新彩能达到国画和油画“绘画性”的色与韵。
