在移民作家和离散群体日益受到广泛关注的今天,关于民族和文化身份的探讨已不容忽视。后殖民理论代表人物霍米·巴巴提出的“第三空间”的概念为离散群体所面对的种种困惑开出了良药,并为“流离失所”的异乡人和流散群体提供了栖身之处。伍绮诗的小说《无声告白》恰契合此主题,通过刻画离散华人如何在异国他乡被边缘化,并在经历生离死别之后,如何在“第三空间”中得以重生,给予离散华人以深切的观照。

With immigrant writers and diaspora being given more and more attention,the discussion of their national and cultural identities becomes an indispensable topic nowadays.Homi K.Bhabha,a representative of the Postcolonial Theory,who proposed the theory of the“Third Space”,presents a solution for the diaspora to relieve from the cultural and identity confusion and provides a shelter for the“homeless”non-natives and diaspora to sojourn.Celeste Ng’s novel Everything I Never Told You just fits this theme,by depicting how the discrete Chinese are marginalized in foreign countries,and how they can be reborn in the“Third Space”after experiencing life and death,giving them deep concern.
