Technological support system is the lifeline of an international oil company for global oil and gas production and operation.It reflects the company’s capacity for technological innovation,market application of technology,and management of modern enterprise.The study analyzes the technological support systems of four international petroleum majors--Total,BP and Shell and ExxonMobil.The structuring and operational characteristics of these systems include focusing integration and sharing and improving efficiency of resources distribution,establishing the regional technological support sub-centers to provide the differential technological support services,making integration of research,support and business to improve technological application capacity,setting up the special technological support organs to improve technological support performance,and enjoying the mature external cooperation systems,innovative networks and cooperation alliances to highlight technological innovation capacity.The overseas technological support systems of China’s oil companies remain immature as compared to their international counterparts.It is necessary to borrow the world’s latest experience and further improve and perfect organizational management,technological support and technological performance.
