“第三空间”视域下我国大学英语跨文化教学探索——基于英国格拉斯哥大学汉语教学的思考

The intercultural teaching in college English from the perspective of the“Third Space”:Reflections based on the Chinese language teaching in the University of Glasgow

跨文化教育是我国大学英语课程的重要任务之一。基于英国格拉斯哥大学汉语教学经验,文章提出将跨文化“第三空间”理论应用于大学英语跨文化教学。根据跨文化交际符号学模型,在编码和解码两大关系中增加析码过程,构建跨文化外语教学符号学模型,为学习者建构目的语言文化和本族语言文化交融的“第三空间”,提高大学英语跨文化教学有效性。问卷调查结果表明,该教学模式为大学英语教师难于实施跨文化教学的困境提出了具体而可行的方法,也间接验证了其提升学习者跨文化交际意识和能力的潜力。

Intercultural education is one of the important tasks of college English courses in China.This study proposes to apply the“third space”theory to college English teaching based on the experience of Chinese language teaching in the University of Glasgow.The semiotic model of intercultural foreign language teaching is constructed on the basis of semiotic model of intercultural communication by adding the process of analytical-coding between encoding and decoding.It helps learners establish the“third space”between native language and culture as well as target language and culture,so as to improve the effectiveness of intercultural language teaching in college English.The results of questionnaires show that this new model puts forward concrete and feasible solution for college English teachers who feel difficult to implement intercultural language teaching,and indirectly verifies its potential to improve learners’intercultural communication awareness and competence.
