Since the founding of the Communist Party of China, China’s higher continuing education has experienced such important stages as embryonic development period, tortuous development period, recovery development period, vigorous development period and transformation development period. The development of higher continuing education in China mainly shows the diverse practice system, perfect talent training mode and multiple development value. Looking forward to the future of higher continuing education in China, the concept of socialism with Chinese characteristics is much firmer, the integration development mechanism is more mature, the education characteristics are more prominent, and the education governance mechanism is more perfect.
