基于ELF理论的海员英语交际能力提升策略

Measures to Improve Communicative Competence of Seafarers based on ELF

英语交际能力整体偏低是导致我国海员在国际上缺乏竞争力的主要原因,也制约了我国向航海强国迈进的步伐。传统的以英语作为外语(ELF)的教学理念并不能有效提升海员交际能力,而英语通用语(ELF)理论由于其动态性、包容性、跨国性等特点能帮助我国海员克服自卑心理,并具体从海员提升自信心,涉猎多元文化,航海英语教师要以ELF框架来指导英语交际训练和设计教学资源等方面分析提升海员英语交际能力的具体策略,旨在为提升我国海员的英语交际水平提供借鉴。

The overall low communicative competence in English is the main reason leading to the lack of competitiveness of Chinese seafarers in the world,and it has also restricted China's progress towards becoming a maritime power.The traditional teaching concept of English as a foreign language(EFL)cannot effectively improve the communication skills of seafarers,while the theory of English as a lingua franca(ELF)can help Chinese seafarers overcome inferiority complex due to its dynamic,inclusive,and transnational characteristics.With the aim of improving the English communicative level of Chinese seafarers,specific strategies have been analyzed.Crew members should improve their self-confidence and be involved in multiculturalism.Maritime English teachers should use the ELF framework to guide English listening and speaking training and design teaching resources.
