从现存作品看,梅尧臣刚入仕途就有明哲保身思想。其后行事作为中,既有淑世、想为民请命的一面,又有明哲保身、韬光隐晦,远离政治斗争的一面。他的明哲保身是为大局着想。他与范仲淹唱和的灵乌二赋是最好的体现。

Judging from the existing works,Mei Yaochen had already had a clear mind to protect himself wisely when he firstly entered the bureaucratic career.It could be seen in his subsequent actions that there was not only the side of benefiting the world and wanting to give advice to superiors for the people,but also the side of being wise,keeping a low profile,and staying away from political struggle.His behavior of protecting himself wisely was for the sake of the overall situation.The two odes to spiritual crows,which he created with Fan Zhongyan,was the best embodiment.
