摘要
迄今为止,学界对美国诗人狄金森及其诗歌研究成果已经十分丰硕,但少有学者关注这位诗歌才女生前诗歌发表的艰难历程。本文通过史料考证,认为诗人经历了积极发表、渴望作品得到公众认可从而实现其成为诗人的梦想,到遭受来自家庭、社会、时代的冷遇,转而走向“自我发表”的过程。“自我发表”可以看成诗人拒绝平庸、为女性呐喊、唤醒市侩社会、让艺术永恒的一种策略。
So far,the critics on Emily Dickinson and her poetry have been fruitful,but few scholars have ever paid attention to the tortuous course of her poetry publication during her lifetime.Through examining historical materials,this paper is to illustrate how this poetess experienced the whole process from active publication which made her works recognized by the public and her wish of becoming a poetess come true,to cold reception from her family,the society and the times,and eventually toward“Self-Publication”.Indeed,“Self-Publication”can be regarded as a strategy for the poetess to refuse mediocrity,to cry for women,to awaken the philistine society and to make art eternal.
