中诗西传第三方译者研究——以小畑薰良英译《李白诗集》为例

在中诗西传的数百年历史中,除了母语为源语的中国译者和母语为目的语的西方译者外,母语既非源语也非目的语的第三方译者起到了不容忽视的作用,比如日本译者小畑薰良。本文以小畑薰良英译《李白诗集》为例,结合译作的背景与影响,通过对译者翻译理念、翻译选材和翻译策略的分析,探讨第三方译者的传播路径对中诗西传的作用与启示。该路径推动了中诗西传的进程,促进了翻译理论的发展,丰富了翻译策略的选择,也凸显了翻译问题的存在,总体而言,对中诗西传的研究起到了参考与借鉴之用。

In the history of Chinese poetry spreading to the West for hundreds of years,besides the Chinese translators whose mother tongue is the source language and the Western translators whose mother tongue is the target language,the third-party translators whose mother tongues are neither the source language nor the target language play an important role,such as the Japanese translator Shigeyoshi Obata.This paper,taking Obata's English translation The Works of Li Po:The Chinese Poet as an example,combined with its translation background and influence,analyzes the translator's translation concept,source-text selection and translation strategy,and discusses the role and implications of the third-party translators'spreading path in the Western transmission of Chinese poetry.Such path promotes the transmission of Chinese poetry in the West,stimulates the development of translation theories,enriches the selection of translation strategies,and highlights the existence of translation problems.On the whole,the third-party translators’spreading path provides a reference for the study of Chinese poetry’s transmission in the West.
