A Review of Contemporary Filial Piety Culture:Practice,Dilemma and Future

“孝”作为一种观念,发展到今天,内涵已经发生改变,以“孝文化”统摄孝的问题更加符合现实。孝文化嬗变的背后是年轻一代对孝的认知、践行与上一代人的预期之间的落差。孝的本质是一种特殊时间段的家庭成员关系,孝文化是一种实践文化,在当代生活中主要体现在孝养、孝医、孝葬和孝育上。但新的时代面临着隔代孝道、家庭教育缺位、乡村公共舆论失效、法律途径的局限等窘迫与尴尬。未来的孝文化将从国之孝向民之孝、礼之孝向法之孝、传统之孝向现代之孝转向。新的转向并不意味着对旧者的彻底扬弃,而是要让孝文化重新获得民众的认同与履行,建立坚定的民间立场。对个体生命而言,则是要让孝文化深植现代人的精神世界,成为全社会价值追求的底线。

As a concept,“filial piety”has evolved to the present day and its connotation has changed a great deal.It is more realistic to control this problem with“filial piety culture”.Behind the evolution of filial piety culture is the gap between the young generation’s cognition and practice of filial piety and the expectations of the previous generation.The essence of filial piety is a family member relationship within a special period of time.Filial piety culture is a practical culture,which is mainly reflected in filial piety,filial medicine,filial burial and filial education in contemporary life.However,under the background of the new era,it is faced with embarrassment and dilemma,such as filial piety between generations,the absence of family education,the failure of public opinion,the limitation of legal channels,etc.The future filial piety culture will have to change from national filial piety to people’s filial piety,from ritual filial piety to legal filial piety,and from traditional filial piety to modern filial piety,which does not mean the complete sublation of the former,but intends to enable the filial piety culture to regain the recognition and implementation of the people and establish a firm folk position.For individuals,it means to make the filial piety culture deeply rooted in the spiritual world of modern people and become the bottom line of the value pursuit of the whole society.
