The Ideal and Controversy of the Black,Red and Gold Flag——A Study on the Relationship between German National Flag Identification and National Identity

国旗是现代主权国家最重要的标志之一。国民对国旗的认同是国家认同的重要反映。黑红金三色旗作为德国国旗,象征着德国人民对统一与自由理想的追求,但同时也曾面临很多争议。从20世纪中叶以来关于德国国旗等问题的调查数据来看,德国民众的国旗认同与国家认同之间有着密切的关联。研究发现,德国民众对黑红金国旗的认同度稳步上升,稳定在六成左右;受到历史、政治和经济等多种因素的影响,德国民众对国旗认同和国家认同的建构还仍未完成。

The national flag is one of the most important national symbols of modern sovereign states.National identification to the national flag is an important reflection of national identity.As the German national flag,the black,red and gold tricolor flag symbolizes the German people’s pursuit of the ideal of unification and freedom,but at the same time it has faced many disputes.This article uses the theory of national identity and studies the relationship between German national flag identification and national identity based on the survey data on the German national flag and other issues since the middle of the 20th century.The study shows that Germans’recognition of the black,red and gold flag has steadily increased,stabilizing at around 60%.Due to the influence of many factors,such as history,politics,economy,etc.,the German identification of the national flag and the construction of national identity have not yet been completed.
