摘要
18世纪下半叶到19世纪上半叶,哥特复兴运动极大程度地影响了当时英国大学的建筑风格。本文首先通过表格的形式清晰呈现出英国本土哥特复兴式风格与哥特式风格的不同及相同之处,并针对此进行论述,使得读者在对本土哥特复兴式风格有所了解后,再接着分析两所代表性的英国本土哥特复兴式大学。随后从三方面重点论述英国大学普遍采用本土哥特复兴式风格的原因,并结合当时的时代背景进行更深入地分析。最后总结原因,即在设计形式上促使观者敬畏知识、主动学习;通过设计元素促使观者追求自然、个性自由;潮流所致。而这三点原因都是基于对社会需要的顺应。
From 1850 s to late 19 th century, the Gothic Revival deeply influenced the style of English university buildings. Firstly, this article illustrated the differences and similarities between United Kingdom domestic neo-Gothic style and Gothic style with the form, and discussed on that. After making readers have a rough idea of the local neo-Gothic style, it analyzed two representative British local neo-Gothic universities. Then,it mainly discussed the reasons why British universities generally adopted native neo-Gothic style from three aspects, and made an in-depth analysis based on the historical background at that time. Finally, it summarized the reasons that viewers were encouraged to reverence for knowledge、take the initiative to learn and pursue nature、individual freedom, and being went along with the trend. All of those three points were based on the adaptation to the social needs.
