“大遗址考古”的本质内涵是针对规模大、价值高的古代遗址所开展的系统性、整体性的田野调查、勘探、发掘与研究工作。中国百年考古历程以极其丰富的“大遗址考古”实践是“大遗址考古”的理论源泉,日趋成熟的“大遗址考古”理论对中国考古学和文化遗产保护事业产生了巨大的推动作用。“大遗址考古”是中国特色、中国风格、中国气派考古学的生动实践与体现,是中国考古学重大理论创新。通过对其萌生、形成、发展、成熟过程进行阶段性观察,有助于进一步深化对“大遗址考古”理论的认识。

The essence of large scale site archaeology is to carry out systematic and holistic field investigation,survey,excavation and research for large scale ancient sites with high value.The centennial history of Chinese archaeology and rich experiences at large scale archaeological sites provided the basis for large scale site archaeology theory.The increasingly established theory of large scale site archaeology has greatly advanced the archaeology and cultural heritage protection in China.Large scale site archaeology is a vivid practice and embodiment of Chinese archaeology with distinct characteristics,style,and aptitude,and a major theoretical innovation of Chinese archaeology.The periodical observation of its emergence,formation,development and growth is helpful to further deepen the understanding of the theory of large scale site archaeology.
