A Good Command of Carving Skills in New Materials:Huang Hongjiang’s Carving Art

以留青竹刻而著名的黄宏疆,师从书画名家沈迈士,对传统雕刻的热情在印石、砚台、瓷器等各种材质上多有涉及。他的雕刻艺术呈现出强烈的个人风貌,在传统技艺的传承上,显露出其个人品趣和妙处。书法理论家柳曾符先生曾评其作品"雅汲人文",对黄宏疆的作品给予了极大肯定。在近年的雕刻创作中,他又转向对大尺幅的大板、大漆的刻漆挑战与探索,将其对"文质兼得"的坚持实践于新媒材中。

Huang Hongjiang, who is famous for skin-retained bamboo carvings, studies under the tutelage of renowned painter and calligrapher Shen Maishi. He expresses greatpassions for traditional carving through those artworks made of many materials, such as sealstone, inkstone and porcelain. His carving art demonstrates strong personal style, and his personal aesthetics and charm are revealed in the inheritance of traditional skills. In recent years, throughout the process of carving creation, he dedicates to challenge and exploration forcarved lacquer on large-sized slabs and Chinese lacquers, and integrates personal insistence on "excellence of culture and quality"with new materials.
