Du Fu is a great poet equally famous with Li Bai.His poems are closely related to the wars of his time,the unfortunate experiences of the people,and the miseries of his own family.He truly reflects the broad scene of real life with his personal experiences and gloomy emotions in various poetic forms.His poems are recognized as“the history of poetry”by later generations,and he is respected as“poetry sage”.Du Fu,with ample feelings for his homeland,adopts various types of metrical poetry fixed at his time as well as the traditional ones of the ancient time and creats carefully a large number of poems that have been passed down through the ages.Both the contents of historical reality,the deepness of feelings and the superb writing skills of the poems set a high standard in the history of Chinese poetry and culture and he becomes the object of model for later generations and even today’s poets.The two who talked about Du Fu’s poems enlightened each other and they both quoted extensively,creating an intuitive effect as if both Du Fu and his poems were right on the spot.
