The occurrence of Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan in March 2011caused an“anti nuclear”storm around the world.Analyses show that the loss of public trust in nuclear power has directly led to a decline in its acceptance. The openness and transparency of relevant information,as well as active communication with the public and promotion of public participation, have become decisive factors to improve public’s trust in nuclear power.Japan has made great efforts to enhance public trust in view of this.We investigate Japan’s work in information disclosure, public participation and public communication after the accident. We then analyze some problems of nuclear energy information disclosure and public participation in China, and put forward suggestions on how to improve the public acceptance of nuclear energy in China.
