摘要
伴随着五月的鸟语花香,“印度欧亚大陆碰撞及其远程效应”栏目即将与大家见面。板块构造理论完美地解释了大洋岩石圈的形成和演化,是地球科学的一场革命。但占地球表面积35%的大陆,其岩石圈的构造和变形并没有在板块构造理论中涉及,这是具有重大科学意义的基础科学问题,而青藏高原被认为是发展板块构造理论的最佳场所。
Conceived in May 2021,a new special section on The India-Eurasia Collision and Its Long-Range Effect is here.The theory of plate tectonics,a revolution in Earth Science,perfectly explains the formation and evolution of the oceanic lithosphere.However,the tectonics and deformation of the continental litho-sphere,which accounts for 35%of the Earth’s surface area,are not involved in the plate tectonics theory.This is a fundamental problem of great scientific significance,and the Tibetan Plateau is considered to be the best place for the development of the plate tectonics theory.
