英语专业学生思辨倾向与阅读水平的相关性研究

A study on the correlation between English majors′critical thinking disposition and English reading proficiency

为了探索英语专业学生思辨倾向、英语阅读水平及两者之间的关系,对浙江理工大学英语专业四个年级共80名学生进行了测试和调查。研究结果表明:英语专业学生思辨倾向总体上呈正向,英语阅读能力在逻辑分析和根据上下文推断意义方面存在短板;思辨倾向与英语阅读水平两者总体上并未呈现明显的相关性,但英语阅读水平与思辨倾向中的认知成熟度与分析性呈弱相关,阅读测试中被试在匹配题分项上的得分与思辨倾向中的分析性呈弱相关,在问答题分项上的得分与思辨倾向中的认知成熟度呈强相关。通过增加思辨类课程开设、改进教学任务设计、加强课程思政建设等方式,可有效提升学生的思辨能力及阅读水平。

To investigate English majors′critical thinking disposition and English reading proficiency,as well as the relation between the two,a total of 80 English majors from four grades of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University were included in the study for testing and survey.The results reveal that the critical thinking dispositions of English majors is generally positive;their English reading ability is relevantly poor in logical analysis and deducing meaning from the context;overall,there exists no significant correlation between the subjects′critical thinking disposition and English reading proficiency.However,their English reading proficiency is weakly correlated with cognitive maturity and analyticity in the critical thinking disposition;meanwhile,the subjects′score in matching question of the reading test is weakly correlated with the analyticity in the critical thinking disposition,and the score in Q&A part is strongly correlated with the cognitive maturity in the critical thinking disposition.Therefore,students′critical thinking ability and reading proficiency can be effectively enhanced by setting related courses on critical thinking,improving the design of teaching task and strengthening values education in different courses.
