The Academic Research under the War:The “Hainan Island Academic Investigation” by Imperial University of Taipei during World War Ⅱ

台北帝国大学二战期间的海南岛学术调查,既是日本实施“南进政策”、统治海南岛的需要,也是其作为日本“南进政策”之“国策大学”角色的体现。海南岛学术调查可分为参与其他机构调查、独立调查和设立海南岛实验所三个部分。台北帝国大学的海南岛学术调查,是政治动员下的学术研究,是台湾殖民“经验”的输出,具有典型的殖民地学术特征,其性质已经远远超越学术研究本身,而成为学术屈从于强权政治的典型。

The academic investigation of Hainan Island conducted by Imperial University of Taipei during the Second World War is not only the need for Japan to implement its“Southward Policy”and rule Hainan Island,but also the embodiment of its role as the“National Policy University”of Japan’s Southward Policy.The academic investigation can be divided into three parts:the participation in the investigation of other institutions,independent investigation and the establishment of Hainan experimental institute.However,the academic investigation by Imperial University of Taipei is an academic research under political mobilization and an output of Taiwan colonial“experience”.It has typical colonial academic characteristics,and its nature has far exceeded the academic research itself,which has become a typical example of academic subordination to power politics.
