The role of doctor-patient communication in cancer management:why we need more research on complementary and alternative medicine

I read the recent review study by Milena Jurisevic and Sergey Bolevich on“complementary and alternative medicine applications in cancer medicine”[1]in Traditional Medicine Research with great interest.The combined treatment of CAM and conventional cancer therapy has attracted increasing attention.The use of com plementary and alternative medicine(CAM)is growing rapidly while few patients with cancer share information about using CAM with their doctors.I completely agree with their interesting conclusions.Their research can provide valuable insights for healthcare providers(HCPs)to be aware of CAM use and the care needs among patients with cancer,in order to provide effective interventions and ensure the best possible coordinated care for patients with cancer.Moreover,the importance of communication between doctors and patients about the interactions between CAM and conventional cancer therapy should be highlighted,to help better ascertain the application of CAM in the conventional cancer therapy.
