This study aims to investigate TCM cognition of non-medical college students of 9 universities in Beijing by questionnaire survey. The findings show that the majority of non-medical college students have some knowledge of TCM,with objective and positive attitudes towards the role and value of TCM,and have confidence in the future of TCM. However, the same study also reveals that some students’ understanding of TCM is quite inadequate, thus they tend to have biased opinions to TCM,which constitutes significantly different attitudes between TCM students and non-medical students. It is believed that inadequate TCM knowledge, lack of TCM popularization at college level and problems in the course of TCM development may give rise to the non-medical students’ cognitive bias towards TCM. In order to further improve the TCM cognition level of college students and promote the popularization of TCM among non-medical students,we should adopt the following strategies: Firstly, the government should attach importance to promoting the integration of TCM into higher education institutions. Secondly,we should make full use of new media platforms to expand diversified channels of TCM dissemination in higher education institutions. Thirdly,we should popularize TCM theories and knowledge in higher education institutions.
