This article summarizes the meaning of Mr.Chen Lingqun’s research life of modern Chinese music history,which is represented in his attention to the literature,the endeavour to research historical documents,the adherence to truthful writing,the reflection of the past,and the exploration of pre-modern Chinese music history and modern Chinese traditional music history.Furthermore,it represents a deep reflection on the disciplinary theory of modern Chinese music history.With his extraordinary memory,Mr.Chen has stored a rich‘space of experience’and‘brain text’,which he has incorporated into his teaching and research,and has become part of the academic history of modern Chinese music historiography.
