Since the end of 1950 s, as a theoretical paradigm aimed at integrating modern communication technology and ideas into traditional regional development, development communication studies has entered the field of vision of scholars and policymakers in later-developing regions. The thought framework of the combination of tradition and modernization is of practical significance to the cultural development and economic construction of the ethnic minority areas. Development communication studies can well explain the dissemination phenomenon of Dongba culture in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province in recent years. Thanks to modern communication channels like the Internet, the ancient Dongba culture of Naxi ethnic group has attained unprecedented attention throughout the world, thus contributing to the re revitalization of the traditional Naxi culture. The paper therefore puts forward such new media communication strategies and suggestions as building "Digital Lijiang" and "Digital Naxi".
